Cayo Las Bruja – Cayo Santa Maria World Class Fishing for Tarpon

From December 2008, Loop Adventures in coop with Planet Fly Fishing, will take over the management of the fishing area north coast of Villa Clara province in Central Cuba in the west sector of Jardines del Rey. Unesco has declared this region a reserve of the biosphere. The area is beautiful, with channels, mangroves and flats and tarpon fishing is world class.

The area is not very famous in Europe - yet - but it has proved a very good fishing potential for big tarpons, jacks, cudas, snappers, grouper, etc. during the past seasons.

World class tarpon!
Fishing for tarpon is world class. Fish from 10 to 40 lbs are present all year long and very big migrating tarpons up to 100 lbs+ start to show up in great numbers from March onwards. Classic sight flats flyfishing combined with chances in mangroves and channels when weather or tide is wrong for flats. Always a chance. Fishing for big snappers and jack is also great. Then the vicinity of the Bahamas Channel offshore offers good possibilities for wahoo, dorado and tuna.

These prices include VIP Reception in Havana Airport, all transfers inside Cuba, 1 night in Havana in 4-star hotel, DBL room, breakfast included, 7 nights in Cayo Santa Maria (all inclusive) or in Cayo Las Brujas (full board), 6 full days fishing, sharing a skiff, beverages on board, camp services (including free fly tackle rental).

Not included: Extra beverage and food, tips, Cuban Visa,
Airport Tax (CUC 25).
Please note, prices attached are not definite yet but they should not vary a lot if they vary.

FISHING SEASON 2009
We have divided the season into three parts:

Jan - March 31 - Good season
March 28 - Aug 1 - High season
Oct 31 - Dec 19 - Good season

Boats and guides
There will be 8 boats available. Those are 4 of the boats Hewes Bonefisher 17 with 75hp and 90hp (those we had in Cayo Largo) and 4 brand new Carolina Skiff Sea Chaser with 60hp. They are all equipped for fly and spinning, with cooler, life jackets, first aid kit, and radios.Most flyfishing guides are the same that worked with Fabrizzio in Casa Batida  at Cayo Large with long experience of flyfishing. We will rotating scheme between guides and anglers so that everyone enjoys the same chance and also learn to know all guides.

Loop Tackle
Like on all Loop Adventures destinations you have the option to travel light, as we will have a full service room with all the latest, easy to use, salt water fly tackle available to borrow free of charge.
 
First season discount!
For our starting season, we will offer a 15% discount on our prices for anglers.
Even though we all will do our very best to find fish this is a huge area and to learn to find all the best options depending on winds, tides etc will maybe not be 100% perfect already the first season. We feel we must be honest with this.Family friendly
There are several options for accommodation, near the fishing club, in very nice bungalows, just by a beautiful white sandy beach or in the Cayo nearby in a Sol Melia 5*  -click here for their website, all inclusive hotels. The islands are beautiful and hotels offer the same high quality standards than in Varadero or Cayo Largo.Easy transports
This place is easy to reach by car or by plane from Havana. A 48 km causeway links Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Ensenachos and finally Cayo Santa Maria where the hotels are located. It does not take so much longer than the transport with domestic flight counting also check in and waiting time to take off.  At the same time, it’s a nice chance to see a bit more of Cuba. 

Havanna
With this service you can reach the Santa Maria already the first day. If you like to stay in Havanna this is of course also possible.

Full service
We will provide full services from the arrival of the clients in Havana. VIP welcome, airport transfers, accommodation in Havana and Cayo Las Brujas (full board) or Cayo Santa Maria (all inclusive), organisation of fishing, camp services.
